Why is there such a big difference between the 50,000 and the 500,000 forints between websites? I know full well that it’s often difficult to decide which offer is really worth it. Let me break down for you the key differences between the two, and why it’s worth thinking the decision through carefully. Whether it’s the increasing conversion rates Whether that’s your goal, or you simply want a stable website that will stand the test of time, it’s worth paying attention to the details.

The 50,000-forint website

From 50,000 forints A website is usually a simple, template-based solution. What often happens here is that the developer simply imports a template, which undergoes minimal customisation. It is typically completed quickly and can be a suitable choice in certain situations – for example, for start-ups, test projects or a basic introductory page.

Such websites are often incomplete; for example, they frequently lack an appropriate data protection notice, a legal notice or a banner for accepting or rejecting cookies. Even when these are present, they are often merely legal templates that are not tailored to the business in question (the developer has not entered the business’s details). Responsiveness – that is, proper display on mobiles and tablets – is frequently lacking, which can be a serious drawback in terms of user experience.

For conversion, that is, to turn visitors into customers, they pay almost no attention to it. There are no optimised CTA (call-to-action) buttons to help visitors take the next step. Websites like this often just „exist”, but they don’t really work for you.

A further drawback is that, due to the low price, a developer may be forced to create as many as 15–20 such websites in a month just to make ends meet; as a result, they become overworked and often „walk away” after handover or even leave the site half-finished. Unfortunately, I often come across cases of „developers who disappear” in Facebook groups.

If you absolutely must use a cheap website, then I’d advise you to at least make sure that the legal documents are in order.

The 500,000 forint website

From 500,000 forints A website is in a completely different league. Here, a professional developer or team of developers works to provide you with a bespoke solution tailored to your needs. In this case, we don’t just tinker with templates; we build a unique brand identity and strategy. These websites already include the cookie banner and the necessary legal documents, which are tailored to the specific business, and responsiveness is also guaranteed.

A website like this generates customers right from day one. An optimised user experience is guaranteed, and the SEO (search engine optimisation, i.e. search engine optimisation) factors are also taken into account to ensure the website performs well in search engines. The framework also accommodates a few useful marketing tools, such as the integration of a newsletter system with one or two simple automation features, an exit pop-up, a push notification system, and a few tools for tracking user behaviour: Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, Hotjar (this is, of course, merely an example and does not constitute a recommendation). And perhaps most importantly: the developer is far less likely to disappear mid-project or deliver shoddy work. Instead, they typically provide support over the long term.

Summary of the pros and cons:

  • A website costing 50,000 forints: It’s cheap and quick to set up, but it’s often incomplete and unresponsive. There’s no proper data management or legal compliance. The developer often „disappears”.
  • A website costing 500,000 forints: It’s more expensive, but it pays for itself in the long run. It’s comprehensive, responsive and includes all the necessary legal documents. The development team provides long-term support.

Cheap solutions often result in subsequent repair costs, whereas professional workmanship attracts customers right from the start (provided there is a suitable advertising strategy in place).
